Services
Five ways we cover a developing story, from the first camera on scene to a finished package ready for transmission.
Crews, studio, edit suites and live links under one roof
curtainvoxa produces broadcast-ready news video for television and online outlets from its base in Exeter. Our work runs from reaching a developing story to cutting, captioning and delivering it. You can commission one part or the whole chain, depending on how your newsroom is set up.
- 01
Breaking News Crews
Camera operators and reporters-in-the-field who reach a developing story and file footage quickly.
- 02
Studio News Production
Lit studio sets, autocue and multi-camera recording for bulletins and interview segments.
- 03
Rapid Video Editing
Fast edit suites turn raw footage into polished packages with graphics and captions.
- 04
Live Link-Ups
Portable transmission kits for live reports from the scene back to the gallery.
- 05
Newsroom Workflow Consulting
We help small newsrooms organise ingest, approvals and archives so stories move faster.
Tell us what your newsroom already has in place and where the pressure falls. We will suggest which services fit, then agree scope before any shoot is booked.
ContactBreaking News Crews
- 01
Camera work for fast-moving scenes
Handheld and tripod shooting adapted to crowds, weather and low light. Our operators think about usable shots, clean sound and safe positions first, so the material cuts together without rescue work later.
- 02
Reporter in the field
A field reporter gathers facts at the scene, speaks to witnesses where appropriate and records pieces to camera. They work alongside the operator so what is said matches what is shown on screen.
- 03
Filing footage back to you
Rushes, selects or a rough assembly can be sent to your desk as the story develops. Tell us your preferred file format and delivery route in advance so nothing needs converting at the last minute.
- 04
Scope agreed with your desk
Before the crew leaves, we confirm the angle, the deadline, who approves on your side and how you want to be updated. Changes during a developing story are expected and handled by phone.
How a job runs
From first call to delivered footage, step by step
News work rarely waits, so our process is short and clear. Each stage has a person responsible and a result you can check. The order stays the same whether the job is a single package or a day of coverage.
-
01
Brief by phone or email
You describe the story, the deadline and the format you need. We ask about location, access, any restrictions and who signs off. Rachel Hollis, our Head of Production, decides which crew and kit suit the job.
What you leave with
A confirmed brief with named contacts and delivery format
-
02
Crew and kit assigned
We choose camera operators, reporter, lighting and sound equipment to match the location and light. If the job needs a live link or studio time, those are booked alongside so the pieces fit together.
What you leave with
A crew list and equipment plan sent to your desk
-
03
Shoot and field reporting
The crew works at the scene, keeping in touch with your editor. Shots are logged as they are recorded, which makes the later edit quicker and helps you find specific moments in the material.
What you leave with
Logged footage with notes on key shots and interviews
-
04
Edit, graphics and captions
Our editors cut the material to your running length, add graphics, captions and sound mix, and check names and facts against the reporter's notes. You can request changes before the package is finalised.
What you leave with
A reviewed edit with graphics and captions for your approval
-
05
Delivery and handover
Finished files go to you in the agreed format and route, with the original material kept for the period we agree together. We confirm receipt and note anything useful for the next job.
What you leave with
Final files delivered and confirmed, with a short handover note
