FAQ
Answers to what producers and editors ask us most often about booking crews, studio time, editing and delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Here are the points that come up before a first job. If your question is not covered, call or email and we will answer it directly.
How quickly can a crew reach a developing story?
It depends on where the story is and who is free that day. We are based in Exeter and cover the South West and beyond, so nearby locations are the easiest. When you call, we give you a realistic arrival estimate rather than a promise, and keep you updated while the crew travels.
Can I book just one service, such as editing?
Yes. You can commission a crew, studio time, an edit, a live link-up or workflow advice on its own. Many clients combine two or three, but nothing requires it. We agree the scope for each job before work starts so you pay only for what you asked for.
What formats do you deliver in?
We deliver in the file format, frame rate and naming convention your gallery or publishing system expects. Tell us your specification at the briefing stage and we will work to it. If you are unsure what to ask for, we can look at a sample of your usual files and match it.
Do you provide a reporter as well as a camera operator?
Yes, a field reporter can travel with the operator, gather facts at the scene and record pieces to camera. If you prefer to send your own reporter, our operator can work with them. Either way we agree roles with your desk before the shoot.
Can you work with our house style for graphics and captions?
We can. Send your style guide, fonts and any lower-third templates beforehand and our editors will follow them. If you do not have one, we propose a clean, readable default and show you a frame for approval before the full package is built.
How do live link-ups work?
We use portable transmission kits to send a live report from the scene back to your gallery. Before the day we agree the connection method, test times and a fallback plan. A technician and reporter set up on location and check the feed with your team.
What do you keep after the job is finished?
We keep the original material and project files for a period agreed with you, so a follow-up item can use it. If you would rather we delete everything after delivery, say so at the start and we will confirm in writing once it is done.
What should I send when I get in touch?
Tell us the story, location, deadline, who approves the edit and the format you need. Any access or safety notes help, as does a named contact reachable by phone. With that we can propose a crew and plan quickly, usually within one conversation.
